Puno, Largest City Folk of Peru

Puno is a city in southeastern Peru. these place located on the shores of Lake Titicaca which is the highest navigable lake located in the world. It lies 3860m above sea level. Puno is the capital and the name of the region and province in peru. this place was founded in 1668 by Viceroy Pedro Antonio Fernandez de Castro and his original name was San Juan Bautista de Puno. There are some churches and Cathedral in the colonial period in the city.  These place is famous for being the largest city folk of Peru “Capital Folklorica del Peru”. One of the most popular is the regional folk dance competition called “Virgen de la Candelaria”, that as one international tourist attraction, in addition to the marina, Floating Islands, and the beauty of Lake Titicaca.
